R.I.P. Ronnie Montrose, Megadeth’s destructive atmosphere, Playlist: 2/26-03/03-12

Wow, just as I was thinking about sitting down and organizing my thoughts about the late Mark Reale (Riot), the guitar world has been dealt another big blow with today’s passing of Ronnie Montrose. While unfortunately I am not very familiar with Ronnie’s post-Montrose work with Gamma, I will always hold the Paper Money album in high regard and look forward to catching up with the self-titled debut at some point. Cancer needs to be murdered, one of these days.

In other news from the world of heavy rock, former Megadeth guitarist Glen Drover apparently left Megadeth due to its “destructive atmosphere” What, so his brother disagreed with him…not exactly a surprise, but former Black Sabbath singer Tony Martin says he hasn’t heard from the Sabs in 15 years. Glad to see the ultra-talented Tony has been staying so busy though. One of his albums with Sabbath will be featured on this site next week.

As for this week’s slate on Kollnot Rock’n’Metal Reviews, look for a combined review feature of Riot’s new CD Immortal Soul and my little tribute to the man and unsung guitar god, Mark Reale. Have a great week all you hard rocking metal maniacs, and please, keep it loud!–JK
