Society’s Menace/”The Last Slut”/News ‘n’ Schtuff!

Hello my insane rock and roll brethren,

I sit here relaxing on a Friday evening, blasting the Dokken and Ace Frehley tunes, realizing I haven’t posted anything in quite awhile. It’s been an absolutely devilish week in terms of beaurocratic nonsense to deal with, particularly in tending to the business of my parents’ estate. But I haven’t lost total track of this blog, which has been resting somewhere in the bottom of my nearly-empty reserve tank.

Imminent in the coming weeks…a little review of a book about the groupie lifestyle by a notorious Iranian rock groupie who leaves nothing between the lines or to the imagination…a review of one of my favorite American metal scorchers from the ’80s, Lizzy Borden’s eviscerating Menace to Society album…and a special feature on the fertile Colorado melodic metal scene during metal’s darkest days, the 1990s.

In the news: apparently, Queensryche have parted ways with Geoff Tate. Let’s hope that both sides finally can start making some quality music again now that they’re separated…Iron Maiden kicked off its Maiden England World Tour last night. Yay! But I’m not looking at the setlist…Tony Iommi and Ian Gillan have united to record a charity single. The project is called WHOCARES. I do! I do!

The Download Festival is showing on VH1 Classic. That would be my cue to shut it and listen. Please keep it loud and peaceful, everyone!–JK
